quiche…any flavor!

The quiche I made today is a great “intro” quiche for first timers or people who may be unsure if they will like quiche. Who doesn’t like broccoli cheddar? I used ham, but bacon would have been great too.

Quiche is such an easy versatile dish. You can eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner…warm or chilled. You can use virtually any ingredients and they are always a crowd pleaser. I don’t really follow a recipe when I make quiche…more of a guideline of measurements that can be easily adjusted.

  • 1 cup cheese
  • 2 cups veggies
  • 1/2 cup meat
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • premade refrigerated pie crust

THAT’S RIGHT I USE PREMADE PIE CRUST! I am a cheater…I am a firm believer in saving time/effort by using store bought pie crust. By all means, make your own crust if that’s your thing.

I like to use two cheeses in my quiche. I use a majority of a more common cheese..something like cheddar, and then add a 1/4 cup or so of a more “special” cheese… something like parmesan, swiss, or goat cheese.

Recommended veggies: asparagus, broccoli, mushroom, spinach, onion, and bell peppers

Always cook your veggies first to avoid moisture coming out during baking that will cause issues with setting

Recommended meats: I seem to stick to the usual breakfast meats such as ham, bacon, sausage

recommended cheeses: cheddar, swiss, gruyere, colby, mozzarella, goat, parmesan…really any cheese you like!

Some of my favorite combinations:

sun dried tomatoes, feta, kalamata olives– make a great Greek quiche

spinach, artichoke, mozzarella, and parmesan– like spinach artichoke dip!

mushrooms, asparagus, and swiss cheese

caramelized onion, bacon, and gruyere cheese

The possibilities are literally endless. I like to make quiche to use up whatever I have in the fridge, and serve it with a simple arugula salad.
