Cranberry sauce is the much needed acidic flavor that thanksgiving needs. I don’t particularly care for cranberry sauce on it’s own, but it in the thanksgiving meal it is definitely an essential. It helps cut through seasonings like sage, thyme, and rosemary and provides a nice break from some heavy foods.
Cranberry sauce can be made ahead of time, which will save you time on thanksgiving day.
In a large saucepan combine water, orange juice, and sugar over medium heat. Add cranberries and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until cranberries are soft. Remove to a bowl to cool. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.
